JMA provided architectural and development services for the design and construction of a four-story, mixed-use residential and commercial building, and for the restoration and adaptive reuse of the 1830 Howard-Hardy House. The work included preparation of applications for Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, federal and state Historic Preservation Tax Credits, a New Markets Tax Credit loan, and for Community Development Block Grant funding.

The project uses a geothermal heating/cooling system and is designed to meet the Secretary of the Interior's Standards and LEEDŽ prototype standards for sustainable neighborhood design. The Howard-Hardy House rehabilitation was awarded an Ida Lee Willis Preservation Award by the Kentucky Heritage Council. Cathedral Commons extends and completes the revitalization of a significant block face in downtown Louisville which began with a multi-phased construction program for the adjacent Christ Church Cathedral, the city’s oldest house of worship (1824). JMA’s work on the Cathedral complex was also honored with Kentucky’s Ida Lee Willis Preservation Award.
