Vice President and Director, Architecture and Historic Preservation Department

John K. Mott, FAIA, is the Director of the Architecture and Historic Preservation Department. He directs the operations of the A&HP staff from JMA’s Alexandria, Virginia, office. He is a graduate of the University of Arkansas with a bachelor’s degree in architecture, served as an officer in the U.S. Navy, and has more than thirty years’ experience as a practicing architect.

Prior to joining JMA in 1996, Mr. Mott was a principal in his own firm in Fort Smith, Arkansas, and then served as the principal historic architect for Notter + Associates in Washington, D.C. He has managed more than one hundred fifty preservation projects and has completed forty projects on eleven college and university campuses.
