Brian W. Kelly, AIA

After three decades of experience in preservation, adaptive use, and contextural urban design, Brian Kelly joined JMA in 2006. Among his projects are the nationally recognized Orchard Street Church, the American Brewery, Charlestown Retirement Community, and Howard's Inheritance. Mr. Kelly's experiences in working with non-profit and religious groups have honed his skills in encouraging participation, creating a vision, and fostering consensus for each project effort. A graduate of Virginia Tech, he is a registered architect in Maryland and Virginia. Mr. Kelly was also a licensed contractor in Maryland, enabling him to act as construction manager on the most challenging projects where budget and schedule were critical.

Christopher Quirk received a master of architecture degree from
the University of Texas at Austin in 1985. Mr. Quirk joined JMA
in 2003 and is a licensed architect in Kentucky. From South Texas
adobe construction to a brick townhouse in Kentucky, his experience
with varied building types, settings, and uses in the fields of
landscape architecture, architecture, and construction has given
him a broad perspective on preservation. Recent projects include
the Gene Snyder United States Courthouse, the United States Marine
Hospital, and condition assessment/feasibility studies for the Jefferson
Marders House and Whitewater Shaker Village.

Annie Sauser, LEED®

Project Manager
Annie Sauser recently joined JMA after twenty years of experience in historic preservation in Texas. While in graduate school in architecture at the University of Texas at Austin, she gained early experience with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards working part time for the Texas SHPO. Since that time she has specialized exclusively in the care of historic structures and sites. Most of her previous projects have been for non-profit or governmental entities and include courthouses, churches, and museums. Recent projects at JMA include the Constitution Avenue properties of the Organization of American States in Washington, DC, the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Richmond, Virginia, and the East Feliciana Parish Courthouse in Clinton, Louisiana.
Philip E. Yocum, AIA, LEED®

Senior Associate
Philip Yocum, a registered professional architect, joined JMA in
1999. He received a bachelor of architecture degree in 1981 from
Syracuse University and has over twenty-three years' professional
experience. His experience encompasses preservation, adaptive reuse,
and new construction with a wide variety of building types including
churches, visitor centers, university facilities, government offices,
retail facilities, and residential projects. Key projects with JMA
include Church of the Holy Trinity Master Plan, Independence Square
Rehabilitation in Philadelphia, Blue Ball Barn Renovation in Wilmington,
Delaware, and the Washington Monument Historic Structure Report.
Mr. Yocum is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware,
and Maryland.
