Doug Harnsberger oversees JMA’s architectural practice in its West Chester and Philadelphia offices.  He received his architectural degree from the University of California at Berkeley and a master's degree in architectural history from the University of Virginia.  In more than 25 years as a practicing architect, he has specialized in restoring and rehabilitating a wide variety of notable landmarks including the 1906 Academy of Fine Arts in Lynchburg, Virginia, and the Corinthian Room at the former Strawbridge & Clothier Department Store in Philadelphia. Mr. Harnsberger is the consulting restoration architect for the Eisenhower Executive Office Building rehabilitation project in Washington, D.C., and is a National Peer Advisor for the U.S. General Services Administration.



Ashley K.F. Howell, AIA, LEED® AP
Project Manager
Senior Preservation Architect

Ashley Howell has extensive experience in all phases of historic restoration, rehabilitation, and adaptive use projects including building condition reports, historic evaluations and surveys, production of construction documents, construction administration, and design review for compliance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation. In the roles of project manager, designer, and architect, she has worked on various commercial and government projects and is fully experienced in investment tax credit projects. A past president of the local chapter of the Association for Preservation Technology, Ms. Howell is a LEED® Accredited Professional and a registered architect in Virginia.



Brian W. Kelly, AIA

Brian Kelly has over three decades of experience in preservation, adaptive use, and contextual urban design, including the nationally recognized Orchard Street Church, the American Brewery, Charlestown Retirement Community, and Howard's Inheritance.  A graduate of Virginia Tech, he is a registered architect in Maryland and Virginia.  Mr. Kelly's experiences in working with non-profit and religious groups have honed his skills in encouraging participation, creating a vision, and fostering consensus for each project effort.



Christopher Quirk, AIA, LEED® AP
Project Manager
Senior Preservation Architect
Associate


Christopher Quirk holds a master of architecture degree from the University of Texas at Austin and is a licensed architect in Kentucky. From South Texas adobe construction to a late Georgian brick townhouse in Kentucky, his experience with varied building types, settings, and uses in the fields of architecture, landscape architecture, and construction has given him a broad perspective on preservation practice. Recent significant projects have included a preservation maintenance plan for Lovett Hall at Rice University in Houston, Texas, rehabilitation of the Elson-Magnolia Flouring Mill near Canton, Ohio, exterior restoration of the United States Marine Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky, and rehabilitation of the Woodrow Wilson Family Home in Columbia, South Carolina.



Annie Sauser, LEED® AP
Project Manager

Annie Sauser brings twenty years of experience in historic preservation in Texas to JMA. While in graduate school in architecture at the University of Texas at Austin, she gained early experience with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards working part time for the Texas State Historic Preservation Office. Since that time, Ms. Sauser has specialized exclusively in the care of historic structures and sites. Most of her previous projects have been for non-profit or governmental entities and include courthouses, churches, and museums. Recent projects include the Constitution Avenue properties of the Organization of American States in Washington, D.C., the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Richmond, Virginia, and the East Feliciana Parish Courthouse in Clinton, Louisiana.
