Mumma
Farmstead Rehabilitation
Antietam National Battlefield, Maryland
National
Park Service, Denver Service Center
The Mumma House and Barn occupied
a central location during the 1862 Battle of Antietam. The exterior
of the farmhouse was restored to its appearance on the eve of the
Civil War battle, and the interior adaptively reused to provide educational
space for tour groups and park staff offices. The barn was rehabilitated
for continued use in the park's agricultural leaseback program. |

original house was burned on the morning of September 17, 1862, during
