Magnolia Flouring Mill
Magnolia, Ohio

Stark County Park District

The Elson-Magnolia Flouring Mill, in continuous operation since the 1830s, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Its location on the Sandy & Beaver Canal is part of a proposed scenic trail system. Woodrow Wilson Family Home
Columbia, South Carolina

Historic Columbia Foundation, Inc.

The Woodrow Wilson Family Home is South Carolinaís only presidential site and the only home ever built and owned by President Wilsonís parents. JMA prepared a historic property report, including measured drawings of the house. Schematic rehabilitation plans and a cost estimate were also prepared. JMA conducted an archeological investigation to locate the footprint of the original kitchen and performed a historic paint finish analysis. Structural repairs and restoration of the wood-shingle roof and other exterior features are funded by a 2008 Save Americaís Treasures grant.

Lovett Hall Maintenance Plan
Houston, Texas

Rice University

Lovett Hall was the first building constructed on the campus of Rice University in 1909. Designed by Cram, Goodhue, and Ferguson, Architects, the building features a diverse masonry palette and rich ornamentation befitting its Neo-Byzantine style. JMA conducted a detailed inventory and assessment of historical building components and materials and prepared guidelines and model specifications to guide ongoing conservation and repair, which will assist the university in planning, bidding, and monitoring future work affecting this historic structure.

Washington National Cathedral
Washington, D.C.

The Protestant Episcopal Cathedral Foundation

JMA prepared a condition assessment of the Cathedral Church of St. Peter and St. Paul in Washington, D.C., a well-known landmark in the capital city. Built between 1907 and 1991, evidence of stress in the masonry at several critical locations is one result of design changes over this lengthy period of construction. Time and the elements also contribute to the aging of building materials and systems. The assessment recommends appropriate approaches to the ongoing care of the structure’s fabric and will assist the cathedral in prioritizing both the immediate and long-term needs of this complex building.

Vol Walker Hall

The firm was the prime architect for building upgrades to meet current code requirements. Work included creating new interior fire egress stairs with exterior exits and two third story additions, all in compliance with the Secretary of the Interiorís Standards.

East Feliciana Parish Courthouse

East Feliciana Parish

JMA has completed construction documents for rehabilitation of the East Feliciana Parish Courthouse.
