JMA was founded
in 1968 as a small architectural firm providing preservation and restoration
services. In the ensuing decades, JMA has grown to become a multi-disciplinary
professional practice specializing in all facets of historic preservation
with a staff nearing one hundred in seven office locations.
JMA continues to provide its core architectural services, but the
breadth of our staff members' capabilities and areas of expertise
have expanded to include cultural resources services, archeology,
landscape architecture, preservation planning, heritage development,
and a specialized materials conservation group that utilizes cutting-edge
technology to record, analyze, treat, and prevent problems associated
with historic objects and buildings. While others may provide these
services à la carte, JMA's comprehensive approach to historic
preservation allows us to provide our clients with integrated services
and resources that avoid duplication of effort and the costs and time
associated with managing multiple consultants.
As you review our project portfolio, you will see that "historic
preservation" has come a long way from the days not so long ago
when historical societies and private foundations were the primary
caretakers of our historical legacy. The diversity of those we serve
and the variety of projects we undertake are testament to the value
now placed on historic resources, and we continue to look forward
to the challenges ahead.
